Rock Shadow Shepherd dogs are obedience trained, this requires patience and understanding. It will be well worth your efforts, as it is so pleasant to live with an obedience-trained dog.
American Kennel Club (AKC) offers obedience trials: Novice, Open, and Utility. The degrees are CD (Companion Dog), CDX, (Companion Dog Excellent), UD, (Utility Dog), and UDX, (Utility Dog Excellent). The dog must earn 170 points to qualify with 200 points for a perfect score. You must receive three qualifying scores, under three different judges for each title. The exception is for UDX, this title is accomplished at ten trials, ten separate judges and performing the Open and Utility exercise in succession. The same rules for scoring apply. Each trial is with greater difficulty.
These obedience competitions are such a testimonial of the dog and handlers ability to work together.
